Price includes one 30-45 minute private roasting class with Chuck on the unit at pickup.
With this roaster you can roast anywhere from 150 gram batches all the way up to 500 gram batches and unlike the M3, the M6 has an external cooling system which can cool down a full batch in just a couple minutes. At a powerful 1600 watts, it is easy to get proper City roast in about 9 minutes or less if needed.
You can buy more complicated roasters for a lot more money but you won’t be producing significantly better coffee than you can with the Quest. This roaster is perfect for the serious enthusiast looking to roast excellent coffee at home or for the coffee professional looking for a solid, consistent, sample roaster.
Experience as a roaster is recommended. Like a commercial drum roaster that this is modeled after, you can’t just warm it up, add green coffee, and walk away. You need to be engaged in the roasting process for this one. This is not a beginner model nor is it a good fit for someone who wants to passively roast coffee.
There is no smoke suppression so the roaster needs to be vented or you should roast outside.
The operator can control the heating element and airflow through the drum but drum speed is set. It is easy to operate, take apart and clean — unlike a lot of roasters this size on the market. And, the Quest is a solid well-built roaster made of stainless steel that will last for years with proper care and cleaning.
I have not modified the unit but it is easy to do so if needed.
